Productive Weekend
Yep, there are some advantages to having stormy weather threatening all weekend. It made it far easier to get indoors stuff taken care of. And I didn't quite get all the things done and there are more that have been added since the list was last updated. But we did get to cross off some significant things.
Big ones first. We now have a true wedding date that we're set on. No more maybe now, maybe then. Now we're getting married on the 4th of October, 4 months and 30 days from now, give or take a day or two. The where is still in some question but I'll get the number we need and check in with the people with the crazy big house overlooking the harbor. It would be a great spot, especially since it would double as hotel for my folks from back east.
The bean bag chair is now complete. Paula picked up some extra thick Velcro to close it up and its awesome. It looks great too, maybe I'll have to shoot a pic of it for posterity.
I got a haircut finally. Paula finally got cornered and I finally got to see how she is with a pair of clippers and some scissors. And yep, she's pretty damned good, I can see why little kids like having her cut their hair.
The process of upgrading the first generation componentry on my Szazbo is continuing. Replaced the bars yesterday with a nice set of Race Face bars I picked up from Duggan. Not pristine but we're still in the process of getting the bike to usable and not worrying about looks yet. Fork is next and I'm going to have to replace all the cables on the bike, they're frayed and sticky which makes braking an adventure. I need to make sure the new fork can take a disc brake because that's the direction I'm headed in. But the bike's coming along quite nicely. The new pedals make a huge difference as well, now I can pull the bike up under when I take jumps so I get the illusion of being higher (and we all want to be higher, don't we?).
This morning was further enhanced by the delivery of a burn CD that I can't wait to get the music going off of. Its a follow up from an Ebay auction that was less than forthright in what the auction was for and I semi-complained. And got a special burn of a whole bunch of Lovage, which is just what I want and need.
And we did a full car load of laundry and the most outrageously over priced Laundromat I've ever been to. A total of nine loads of laundry, two in those triple capacity washers. Explain this to me, how can they charge more than four times the regular load cost for a washer that has triple the capacity. It seems to me that I'm losing a 1X in there somewhere. But, at this point, everything made of fabric in our house is cleaned and spring time fresh.
Last but not least for this, the first post of the new week, Paula put together my new pillows! They're super cool although I think we're going to stuff another half bag in each of them for extra firmness. They're a sort of natural grey suede with some nap and are really soft, cylinders of coolness. It is truly amazing to see flat fabric turned into a three dimensional pillow, bean bag cover or whatever it is she'll make. Now we've only got another dozen or so projects to get on before we're done.
Oh yeah, two more. I've got a new book project I'm going to start working on. It might be pretty simple in reality but the scope of its a little daunting at this point. I'll explain it more later.
Met my postal carrier this weekend and got the scoop on what the deal was with the stolen package. He never admitted to leaving the package out in the open on the porch but did say he was the regular guy and that he'd been delivering in the area for three years and this was the first time anything had been stolen. But I've been in touch with the post office and they'll likely replace the keyboard. And now we get out packages delivered to the PO box whenever possible. Live and learn and hope that my other packages haven't been ripped off as well. Still waiting on a few from Ebay auctions that have been a damned long time in coming. Might have to drop those folks a note soon and say, What's Up?
And I promise this is the last. I also got my iTrip for my iPod at the end of last week. Had some time to play around with it and I'm pretty impressed with it overall. A few minor issues (like they should have made the plug longer to be able to be used with a protective case on the iPod) but the utility and clarity are really nice. And the form function is excellent, the glowing blue LED goes well with the whole set up. If you've got an iPod then you might want to look into one. As for my iRock 300w FM Transmitter? Not sure if its got a use anymore. Might just be Ebay fodder.
