Yet Another Sign of the Impending Further Economic Downturn
How does Dick Grasso justify taking a ten million paycheck home this for running the New York Stock Exchange?
NYSE Bio: Dick Grasso
Here's the article from Forbes (there are plenty of other reporting on this ridiculous pay in the light of the continued slump of the exchange for which he is supposed to be responsible). Basically, how in the hell does he justify his pay? And does he truly have no idea of the impact of his exorbitant salary on the rest of the NYSE? Apparently not. And its another sign of the chasm between top level management and CEO's and the other big wigs and their companies. The Well-I-Worked-Real-Hard-Last-Year-and-its-not-my-fault-the-economy-sucks point of view. Actually, as I understand it, his salary was raised several years ago during the boom and has not come back down to earth at all.
Honestly though, what could he possibly be doing everyday in his job to "earn" ten million dollars a year to do it? He's certainly not doing a damn bit of good for the name of the Stock Exchange. If I were a major investor and I knew the guy at the top was being overpaid by such huge amounts then I would have to wonder where that money was coming from. And I would have to conclude that he was being paid with my hard earned money. And that would piss me off and I'd take my money out of the NYSE and put it somewhere else.
These peckerhead executives need to realize that they are going to be held accountable by everyone, shareholders, stockholders, board of directors, the general public, everybody. This guy, Grasso, he didn't earn his pay, he's been riding a sinking ship the last few years. And its another story of corporate greed. I hope he gets roasted in the media and shamed into returning a portion of his overly lush paycheck. Still, getting a million a year for his job is too much. Or he should be placed in the bottom of a farm silo and have his ten million dollar paycheck poured on top of him in the form of pennies, a billion of them at once.
