Here I sit at my desk at work for the first time in more than three weeks since summer school ended and I went on my summer break.
It doesn't seem like very long ago at all. It seems like it was just yesterday. The mess on my desk and in my office is the same. The tasks on my list are the same save a bunch of new ones added and being added all the time.
I've been getting work based emails for the last several weeks asking me to do repair work or installs or whatever that I've mostly ignored because, fuck that, I'm not under contract over the summer and I have zero responsibility to be responsive. Mostly my responses have been, "Thanks for letting me know, I'll see what I can do when I start working again on the 13th of August" and send it out.
The summer was decent, though short and punctuated by weekend travel and camping.
But I would be lying if I said that I had anything but mostly dread sitting on this chair in my office again. It is going to be a long year.
