The dirty and ugly smear campaign by the Bush camp continues. Today's new low is an ad featuring men who served with John Kerry in Vietnam and saying that he's lying about his military service.
Let's get this crystal fucking clear.
John Kerry's military records are available for review. They show he not only vollunteered for duty, he was a decorated soldier who felt strongly enough to speak out against the war after he'd completed his duty.
George W. Bush used his family's connections to get a lame bullshit National Guard position that he wasn't able to complete and now his records, far from being freely available, have gone missing. We can't verify his service, we can only verify that he weaseled out of going to Vietnam to stay close to home.
And George W. Bush has the sheer unmitigated audacity to level lie claims against John Kerry?
Who's record is available?
Who was a decorated soldier?
Who served in the war instead of serving himself another cold beer?
I'm sure lots of people will be swayed by his ugly and disgusting smear campaign but I would hope more and more people see through his lies and recognize that Bush has nothing good to say about himself so he's focusing on trying to besmirch John Kerry's name. And that speaks volumes to not only Bush's record as president but also his record as a human being. I find him deeply lacking in character traits that I would want in my country's leader.
He strikes me as shallow, mean spirited, corrupt and really just an asshole.
So, here's my campaign slogan of the day: If You Want to Keep a Mean Bastard in Charge, Vote for Bush. And my Kerry campaign slogan: Looking Forward, Looking Up and Looking Out for All Americans, Vote Kerry.
And yeah, I think I might just make a slogan of the day a regular feature of the Poison.
[Update: By the way, all of the men in the ad didn't actually serve on the boat with John Kerry, they were close to him but not a single one of them actually served quite with him. More lies, more deception, more smear.]
