Let's start with the latest pics and we'll get to the post in just a moment.
I like to think Graydon found the Best Bed Ever as well as the first pic of my Smiling Baby Boy. And some new Nande pics, Dancing Nande and Nande in the Park.
Its been a little while since I've written about my new little baby boy and what its been like going from expecting parents to two people given total charge over this tiny little life.
It is still scary and sometimes overwhelming. When he's crying his anguished and soul rending cry that can seem to compress an eternity in a breath, its impossible not to shrink in upon oneself, to not be deeply affected by the utter depth of displeasure he's feeling. Usually those moments are pretty transitory and that's good. He gets some nasty gas and that bums him out, he doesn't like having a wet diaper and has no problem screaming for a new one just to pee in it five minutes later (if we're lucky) and then want a new one. We've had days where the diaper count gets a little crazy.
We've had afternoons of change, poop mid-change, re-change, poop again mid-change, drag foot through poop, re-change socks, re-change diaper, poop yet again and then somehow drive it up his backside and making a change of his entire outfit necessary.
The other day he had a blowout due to some mis-diapering on my part and I got my just rewards, baby dookie on sweatshirt, on shorts and even on my boxers underneath. I have an extremely talented son.
And then there are sublime and wholly contentment inducing moments like when he finally does lay his head down on my chest and slip into sleep. Or when he stares intently at me. He likes to be sung to and I've already made up dozens of stupid little songs for him but we stand by a few highly entertaining ones.
Victor Vito by Laurie Berkner is excellent, The Hampster Dance by Hampton the Hampster makes him happy and infects your mind with its beat. Screw hypnotica, electronica and rave music, kid's music is where it is at. If I could play a guitar, I'd be recording songs by the album load right now.
Most of the time spent with Graydon is keeping him entertained, did you know kids aren't supposed to watch a tv until their 2 years old? I didn't which means all of our Baby Einstein videos are useless or supposedly useless. We've got bunches of cool toys that he barely pays attention but they play good music. One mobile plays Wimoweh and has jungle animals on strings going in circles, good stuff. My favorite new thing is the Snugli that holds him facing in or facing out and gives him a place to chill and, usually, sack out.
He's still a sweet and wonderful little boy, he cries some but usually has a decent reason for it. He has become a talkative little guy though even though he can't speak, he grunts. Alot. In his sleep. While nursing. Just hanging out. Makes me wonder what he's really trying to say?
Anyway, I've got projects to get to, dishwashers to remove, ranges to pull, shopping to do and new floors to lay down. And more staining and finish work on the bedroom stuff. Oh boy!
