I went flying.
Not through an airline, I went up in a tiny little four seat private plane that we could direct to any location in the sky.
I flew, I controlled the plane, I throttled up when we needed airspeed, I counteracted the turns with tentative pressure on the pedals, I pushed in or pulled back on the yoke to descend or climb. It was pretty damned excellent and I can't wait to go again. Next time will be for a full hour of flying around which means we'll have alot more land to cover. After a mere ten hours of flight training I will be allowed to solo on a flight.
At around 50 hours or so, I can be certified and fly on my own when I want to. Its not cheap but its also not ridiculously expensive. And it is a whole new and different kind of freedom from anything else I've done. Here are some of the shots I took while airborne, the videos are pretty good as well but too short for this time around to warrant tossing them up online.
The smaller thumbnail is for an 400x300 pixel image around 200k, the bigger thumbnail is for a nice big whopping 2274x1704 pixel image and is around 2 megs and zooming in on individual houses is entirely possible at the higher resolution. I found my old house pretty easily.
They are titled, Santa Cruz East Cliff, Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Wharf and Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor. My favorite of the three is the Yacht Harbor.
