Scalpel Please for This Week's Cheese

This week's Cheddar X, It's Cheesier is loosely based on surgicality. And maybe a random question or two to fill out this week's cheese. Or overfill it, as the case in retrospect would seem to be. Anyway, let's get to cheesin'!

1. If you had a choice, would you be circumsized or not? Why or why not? (ladies, pretend to be men or skip this one)
No question on the clipping, nicer presentation, less risk of infection, blah, blah. Hell yes, I'd be circumcised. I think I'd end up laughing at myself too much with a pepe in a snorkel.

2. What elective surgery would you have performed on yourself if expense wasn't an object?
I'd get my eyes fixed so I don't have to live with four or five bottles of eye drops all over the house and no more contacts or glasses. And the best part? I am going to be getting my eyes fixed!

3. What body part of yours is perfect just the way it is?
I like to think that my face is aging gracefully, in the same way my father's did, slowly taking on wrinkles, the kind that are proof of lots of smiling and laughter.

4. What was your most serious or involved surgery?
Probably the first of the three operations I had on my right ankle after shattering the joint years ago. Five pins and a plate were used to rebuild the joint and it worked well, and only two about a year and a half to get all that hardware out.

5. Ceserean section or vaginal birth?
Having seen how pretty babies are via c-section and the relative ease of the procedure, I'd probably lean toward c-sections.

6. Epidural or drug free child birth?
Drug free is for tough guys and novel heroines. Birth is painful, why suffer needlessly, shoot me up, doc!

7. Which is worse, the anticipation or the recovery?
The recovery's gotta be worse because that means you made it through the surgery and now you get to sit around doing nothing while your body gets well enough to get you up and moving.

Unrelated questions:
8. How has your blog's focus shifted over the course of its run?
It hasn't really drifted to far, I've been a focusless blog since the beginning and will stay on things for a period of time before moving on again. Lately, it has been the baby and I don't seem him disappearing anytime soon. I think I have done a decent job of providing real posts and not just the linky list posts.

9. What has been the main cause of the shift, if there has been one?
Maturing as a blogger, learning what resonates with regular readers, coming to grips with my addiction for hits, refining the site design and, most importantly, my own ever changing interests and thoughts.

10. How often do you redesign your site?
Every six to eight months it seems. The latest reduced the clutter and I like how the site looks these days but I've got a buddy thinking about how to make a cool little widget for me.

11. Are you stats mad (interpret that how you will) or don't care about hits, page visits and the like?
Yes. I check stats, I check referalls, I check search strings and I make a point to have my own site visits not count to the daily totals. I've seen IP go from a 25-50 hit a day site to regularly topping out at more than 300 a day and occasionally spiking up to more than a thousand or two if there's something in the news that IP happens to have spoken to. The Kobe Bryant sexual assault news caused an amazing spike in my traffic, I hit more than 16,000 surfers in a single day. That was pretty cool even if it did overload my server.

And there's my Cheddar X, It's Cheesier for this week, I still need to get caught up with the one from two weeks ago but hey, I've got lots of other stuff going on right now.

Like the first trip with the whole family to the beach in the new family car.
