Where Apple should have soundly thrashed Microsoft, on the operating system side, all those years ago, now it appears that Linux really and truly is putting the screws to the megalithic buggers in Redmond.
Vendors dealing with Microsoft are now using the threat of migrating to Linux as a means to get the company to cut them some more slack on costs.
And once the flood gates have been cracked open, its damned near impossible to close them down again.
On a related note, I heard on the news the other day that the richest people in America saw their wealth increase by a whopping 7% in 2003. For a billionaire, that's one hell of a huge chunk of money and goes a lot to explaining why Big Business is so happy with Shrub in charge. They're making money hand over fist and that's not even counting the embezzlement and insider trading these over rich wankers take part in.
And why can't America get a cool billionaire like Richard Branson? He strikes me as the kind of guy you could sit and have a good talk with or go mountain biking or play volleyball and he'd be cool. I don't see Bill Gates ever deigning to spend time among the proles.
