Musical Inclinations
A short work abbreviated IM chat today reminded me that I want to start a discussion about music here. For several reasons but mostly because the best way to find new music is to have it recommended to you by people who's tastes jibe with your own.
I have found numerous new sources for musical inspiration in my online relationships. Layne (sorry for the link, its a habit and will only take you to the cryptic final message on her presently defunct blog) turned me on to a few, Prozzak being the most notable but also Electric Six's High Voltage and a lot more that I'm spacing on right now.
Amy at intellectual properties and I have had numerous chats about music in the past. And yes, she was the impetus for this post today. Amy's turned me on to a few new bands as well. Same for lots of other folks online.
My question for the post then is this: What three new bands or songs have you come across lately that just get you all fired up?
For me, the answers have got to be Modest Mouse (several songs get me going, Paper Thin Walls right now but 3rd Planet and the fruit that ate itself are also superb), The Faint (Agenda Suicide and Worked up So Sexual) and, though I'm almost ashamed to admit it, Atomic Kitten's Whole Again is just such a nice song and the girl singing it sounds utterly wonderful.
Honorable mentions? Lunatic Calm, The Coup's Wear Clean Draws, Sleater Kinney (from Layne) and Martin Sexton's The Beast in Me (from Ethan, yes, its a gorgeous song, sonorous and meaningful).
I could go on but I'm also interested in hearing back from other folks to see what's making their playlists these days.
