Getting a Dog
There are a few things that I came away from this weekend quite sure of. One is that I'm not getting enough exercise which I'm already working on as I got my tired ass out of bed for a Bowflex workout before heading out to work on my bike.
Two, I'm getting a dog. I know I can't have one in the house where we are now but I'm going to start doing my research and legwork so that, when we do move into a new place, I'll be having a dog right quick there after.

To that end, the first site I've found yet is Getting a Dog.
I'm thinking a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Black Lab or some such like that.
Or I may end up getting a mutt at the pound.
My current pre-req's are: not a tiny yappy lap dog, if its small enough to fit under my foot then its not a dog, its a canine rat. Energetic, this dog must be happy and ready to go biking, swimming, running on the beach or whatever, no couch potatoes for me. Not very long haired, harder to clean up and all that stuff. Friendly, no animal I own will ever be trained to attack or hurt people, I want a dog that I can safely let my nephews and my own children play with. Intelligence, I've gone the stupid dog route before and while I still loved those dogs, I want and need a smart animal to play with.

There is alot of research to do but I've got the time. Anyone want to suggest a breed I should look into given my criteria?
