Umm, yeah, what, did they think it would run better if it were in a more critical place? All I can say is that I won't come anywhere near any car running MS software in any shape. The suckers just as liable to explode as not start.

Software in a critical application like this must be bulletproof, rock solid and NEVER go down for any reason whatsoever. And Windows will shut down for no reason at all, just stop working and you get to start all over again. Loads of fun. Now think about how much fun that would be in a rolling weapon. With you inside.

Please, people, think before you use Microsoft products for important applications and tasks. Can you survive if the software doesn't work properly? Then stay the hell away from Redmond's Bugware. Shame on BMW for taking the short cut and using CE to power their i-Drive system. As it really could have resulted in the Thai Finance Minister's death. And that's the worst kind of publicity there is.
