Cross marketing is all well and good but Major League Baseball is going too far with their latest stupid little ad campaign. They are going to be putting small ads for Spider Man 2 on the actual bases that the players will be running on. They won't do home plate, yet, but each team will make some meager sum of money given the insanely fat pipeline of money flowing into each team's coffers all year long.
They'll make like $100,000 which is less than Alex Rodriguez earns in a single at bat these days.
And for that they are risking alienating more and more fans.
Hey Bud, you should really, really consider the effect of the actions you are taking or authorizing. Can you feel the backlash? Or does it just? feel like another day at the office because you've been smacking by the media and fans just about everyday you've been the commissioner?
Crass over marketing of a sport that's still reeling from steroid scandals, near lockouts, player strikes, corked bats and everything else that I can't recall right now.
Listen to the voice of the masses, this is a BAD IDEA. You are risking an awful lot for an awfully small paycheck here. You need to check yourself and really think about what you're doing and whether its good for the game or good for your wallet. I don't think you give the first damn about the game anymore, you've been hypnotized by the Benjamins and lost all perspective.
I spent a half hour last night trying to find a means of writing to Bud Selig but there is just about no way to find his email address or any means of providing feedback for boneheaded idiocy like this. Does anyone know how to write to the office of the commissioner? Pass the address along and we can all let him know what a fool he is.
