Wow, what a difference a year can make. One year ago today we were frantically racing around town wrapping up final preperations for our pending wedding.
One year ago today, P and I pledged ourselves to each other in front of our families and friends and strangers who just happened to be down on the beach that afternoon.
One year ago, we brought our two lives together and created a third new life. It was cool watching the fireworks being shot off above the Santa Cruz Boardwalk last night. It feels like we've come back to where we began but we brought reinforcements this time. Sure, he's not really strong on security but he's excellent on charm and he can soil a diaper almost as fast as you can put a new one on him.
On a seperate note, P's been painting the downstairs this weekend. So far we've changed out the plain white walls for a nice warm tan. And we've added one very nice bright bold feature in a wall that's now an eye catching Royal Purple. And P's going to do another wall in the same color to create the seperation.
Ooops, gotta go, the baby boy's up and he's doing his shocked awake thing right now. Do all kids go through a phase where they wake up in full on crying mode? Like he's been scared in a dream or something? Its kind of freaky but we can calm him down in just a minute or two usually.
[Update: I should also note that we do already have a good tradition for ou anniversary. Last year, my sister got us massages the morning of the wedding. A really, really good idea as it allowed the both of us to enjoy the day without all of the worked up tension. So, we're going to go again today, some back to back massages so we can take care of the kid, some hot tub time and then maybe a short run around on the beach with the hound, if only the weather decides to cooperate.
And then I think we're going down to Monterey for dinner, not sure though.]
