Taking Stock at the Midpoint Betwixt 20 and 50

While some may think this post is just about getting the word "betwixt" into a sentence, that is only part of the reason for it. Not enough usage of the word "betwixt" is a new personal crusade of mine, its far cooler than between which is really just an exhortation for a weenie to finally make a wager, bet ween? Betwixt sounds like it could be part of a magical incantation.

But no, the real reason for the post is to put a stick in the ground and take some stock on where I am now that I've broken into the far side of my 30's. Original idea comes from Lily and I'm giving credit where its due.

So where am I now? And what's changed in the last year?

- Getting married was the first big change in the timeline. We're coming up on our first year anniversary in a couple of weeks and its been an excellent year for all of us.

- Buying a house and moving 16 miles south of Santa Cruz has been a huge change and has required major lifestyle adjustments. Its been great owning our home, now I only wish we could upgrade to something with some more space, some more privacy, something closer to our friends and farther away from the dickbag we live next door to.

- We jumped through major hoops to secure our first child, a four legged slobbery beast with a ready grin, a waggedity tail and a disposition for fun. Nande's made being where we are much easier and she is a true joy nearly all of the time (except for this morning when she tricked me and jumped up on the lady down in the slough, I was not pleased!)

- And, of course, the biggest change of all has been the addition of the light of my life, Graydon. The bestest little guy ever, truly. His smile goes all the way through his whole body, he loves hanging out, he loves getting loved by everyone and really only cries or is fussy when he needs something, like a new diaper or some food or some bouncy-time. He has filled a void in me that I never knew I had and I can honestly say that I love being a father more than anything else I've ever done.

- Two weeks ago saw the final payment delivered on my motorcycle, always nice to actually completely own your stuff, eh? And just in time for the payments on the Escape to start up.

- Intellectual Poison has passed 2,000 posts as of last week and also surpassed 125,000 site visitors since we opened our doors a couple of years ago.

I will likely add to this list as things occur to me and I am also going to start working on the list of where I am heading as well as what I need to work on to get there.

[Update: Had to add notice of a new site, Fuck You and Your H2 via Rori On.... Yes, its a juvenile site but they do make some decently cogent points. Worth a look if you hate the oversized monstrosities as much as I do. By the way, I can recommend reading the Love/Hate Mail section to get an idea of some of the mentalities of people who want or own H2's.]
