Quote for the Weekend's Meditation

...I love the Army more every day...I fucking love the Army, and
the Army loves fucking me

From a MeFi thread where a report about involuntary service extensions for soldier, Report: Soldiers say they are being threatened with Iraq duty

Came this depressing synopsis of some of the sentiment on the ground in Iraq, when told about the article, the reply was "It wouldn't surprise me. I love the Army more every day . . . I fucking love the Army, and the Army loves fucking me."

Although the soldier in question said that he can't take credit for it. He read it in the latrines in Baaquba (sp?), known affectionately by the soldiers serving there as Baaqaboom.

Another interesting story about call-ups. This one is about a guy who was in ROTC in college, served his time in ROTC and then his time in the regular military. Was honorably discharged and, because he forgot to sign his resignation from the Army papers, they have un-discharged him, have called him to duty are shipping him off to Iraq (now follow close because it gets crazier) they are sending him to Iraq even while his case is being appealled! And the MeFi thread.

Here's an amazing bit, "Army lawyer Maj. Chris Soucie told the judge that Parrish could be recalled to duty because he failed to sign a resignation line on a letter asking for an update on his personal information." Doesn't that read alot like entrapment? They sent him something to fill out, he didn't sign it and they come take him off to war? Seriously, WTF?
