New Laptop, New Laptop, Where IS that Damned FedEx Truck

Yeah, yeah, yeah, its time for that truck to pull up with my toys in it! Come on now. Today's already been pretty well tossed with an early departure from work to go meet with the pediatrician and then dinner with some friends as they head back to Fresno.

The new 'book is in a truck somewhere near here and is slowly drawing near, stop by stop, signature by signature. A new powerbook and a new iPod to support it! Oh boy!

And we almost picked up a new truck this weekend but held off because we planned out a better strategy. I've gotta ditch my beater truck, upgrade to something that can carry the family and then we'll upgrade the Jetta to something with a third row to stash the hound so she can't lick the baby into lots of down the road therapy.

So far we've narrowed the field of possible vehicles to the Ford Escape, Nissan Pathfinder and the Toyota Forerunner. I don't like American cars in general but have always liked Ford trucks and every review I've seen on the Escapes is that they are extremely practical smaller SUV's. The Pathfinders are supposed to be a bit more comfortable and not as pricey as the Forerunners and I think we could be pretty happy with either.

But first, we've gotta replace my dangerous truckster. It works great for someone who just needs to get from here to there, its not comfortable though and is dirty and beat up. But hey, I'm sure there's a few people out there with a thousand bucks or so to drop on a truck they can sleep in down by the beach for the summer (I knew getting the camper shell was a really good idea!).

Anyway, if anyone's get any experience with Ford Escapes or Pathfinders, I'd be very interested in hearing some of your thoughts. Or alternate vehicles to consider.
