1944 Siesta was abolished by the government of Mexico.

And we've been cat napping at our desks ever since.

And a mere six years earlier on this day.....
1938 Baseball helmets were worn for the first time. And also....1938 Superman, the world's first super hero, appeared in the first issue of Action Comics.

Thirty years on this day in 1968, Helen Keller died.

Lots of good stuff.
