Baby News Update

Not a whole lot to report but I think I'm due for an update to bring folks up to speed.

First bit of happy news is that two of the couples in our birthing class have already popped. The lawyer and her partner had a healthy little girl, good size, something like 5 pounds 11 ounces or so. And the couple having twins also popped and both little boys are doing well, they were definitely little fellas though, the bigger of the two was about 3 pounds 12 ounces.

But the news is that they are all doing well, they all spent a little time in the baby ICU but have since all been released to the tender and loving care of their parents.

Pretty amazing that last week they were just like us, scared, excited and worried about all that can go wrong in the process of bringing a new life into the world. Now they're happy parents with their hands more full than they could have ever guessed.

The other news is that we had our first good scare in a while. I'd put P to bed, making sure she'd taken her vitamins, and then gone back into my office to do a little more work. when I went back into the bedroom to get ready to go to bed, I kissed her forehead as she slept and it was wet with sweat. She was pretty well covered in sweat, to the point where neither of was sure that her water hadn't broken.

By the way, I learned the term for this last night, PROM, premature rupture of membranes. Isn't that just teenage pregnancy-esque adorable? "No, honey, you can't go to your prom because you're seven months pregnant but hey, if your water breaks early then you'll have had your own PROM."

Anyway, after some investigation and a very mild freak out, we determined that she was alright, just sleeping too hot. So we replaced the comforter with a light flannel blanket and got back to sleep. It feels like everyday could be THE DAY. And it means that any free time I do have is spent on prepping for the event. Getting the stroller assembled, getting our bags packed for the hospital, making sure P's laying down as much as possible with her feet up (she had been starting to get quite swollen over the course of the day) or something else. Of course, that means I'm neglecting other aspects of our life (not the sweetest pup, Nande, though, she just wouldn't stand for not getting her attention).

The next four weeks will likely be among the most amazing of my life. I'm both daunted and terribly excited.

Oh yeah, and I'm going to get my eyes fixed too!

PS Um, yeah, the spam that says my Mort.gage application has been approved? Yeah, I just don't see myself ever falling for such a stupid scam. And what's with the East Coast Carolina Soccer Camps sending spam garbage out to me now? I've gotten like five or ten spams from them recently. Spammers need to substituted for those animals they test cosmetics and other products on.
