You Read it Here First
The Baltimore Orioles acquired Miquel Tejada from the Oakland A's over the weekend in the first of several moves they will make to go from the cellar to the penthouse in the American League East.
Why? Because my original baseball team is no longer paying the utterly insane salary for Albert Belle who was forced into retirement several years ago but his salary still impacted the team's payroll. Well, that's over now so expect to see a resurgent Orioles club this next season. Especially with the perenial baseball bitches, the Yankees in a rebuilding year with the loss of Clemens, Pettitte and several other key players. That's fine with me because I hate the Yankees, I hate George Steinbrenner for his policy of just throwing more and more money at the team until they win the World Series again and make the game that much lamer.
The top three worst people in baseball are Bud Selig for his limp wristed guidance of the game and money grubbing attempts to shut down franchises so he can sell new ones in new cities for HUGE profit. George Steinbrenner for his lame dick purchasing of all all star teams that should win the World Series every year given their enormous payrolls. And the last? The last is Scott Boras, a player agent who has successfully negotiated the largest salaries ever in sports history all the while destroying any possibility of parity in the league because there's no way a small market team like the Expos can compete with an asshole like Steinbrenner who gobbles up stars like they're M&M's.
But at least the O's will have a fighting chance next year and if they land Vladimir Guerroro and Pudge Rodriguez then watch out because they will kick some serious ass alongside the sparkle and fade Red Sox. [Update: Add Javy Lopez to the mix too!]
