Justice Just Might Prevail!
Jury Convicts U.S. Rep. Janklow of Manslaughter in the vehicular death of a motorcyclist in which he blasted right through a stop sign and killed the biker on contact.
At first, he lied about swerving to avoid a white car, then lied about a diabetic condition and then the news that he's been let off at least a dozen times because he's an elected official representative and was the governor of South Dakota. I was worried that a jury of his peers would just let him off with a "Geez, Bill, you should maybe be a bit more careful piloting that friggin' land yacht and not kill anymore bikers, okay? Now you'll have to promise. Alrighty then, that's good enough for me, let's go get drunk and shoot things then."
But now he's facing ten years in prison and will hopefully never be allowed behind the wheel of a car ever again.
[Update: Janklow Resigns from House of Representatives although I would bet a paycheck that he checked with his lawyers first to see if he could serve while serving his prison term.]
