Nearly Got Scammed
I've been using Iwon for a week or two now, just another way to get a little more out of the internet and maybe I'll even win $25 million bucks but probably not. Instead I'll get these well put together scams to basically half cheat you out of your money. Sure, you get some product but its not what you were thinking.

Case in point, I got an email from them congratulating me for winning some free promotion. And, as anyone who's been online for more than 2 weeks, my bullshit detector went off like mad. "Come on now, we both know they make their income from ad sponsors, there's no way this is a really good deal. It just doesn't work that way." But I checked it out anyway and nearly, nearly set the hook by biting into the offer.

It was for some free Tonka trucks, just pay the shipping and handling and they're yours. I thought they'd be a cool little thing to get for my nephews. And then I read the fine print which gave the dimensions of the trucks. When I think of Tonka trucks I think of those big, rugged toys that you could almost use as a scooter to ride down hills.

Well these "free" models were not the same, they were, oh, half the size of the regular ones. A bulldozer that was 4" long? And they wanted me to pay $5 each for shipping (oh yeah, and the cover their expenses because no one really ever "wins" anything online, its just a scam to upsell you or to sell you some stock that's not even close to what you wanted because they know that a very high percentage of people are too lazy or busy to send it back).

Anyway, its yet another lesson learned. Don't assume anything, get the details, read the details, get out a measuring tape and figure out what it is they're talking about before you give them your money because its ten times harder to get it back once they've got it.

Same thing with a "free trial" from Drugstore.com to try out some magazines. In the fine print it says they'll charge you up front for the year but you get the first six months free. SCAM! And then you get a charge on your credit card and have to wait a month before you can get it reversed. Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me. Burn me again and I'm coming after your house to burn it down.
