Answers to Burning Questions You Haven't Asked Yet
There's been a lot of talk in my family recently about NanoTechnology and it prompted me to go and take a better look into what it is, what it might imply for the future.
The skinny? Nanotech is THE brave new world. It is a whole new universe of possibilities and things that were previously thought to be impossible becoming possible. But its all conjecture and theory at this point, the technology is in its infancy but will almost certainly grow to be one of the most important advances in science in the last hundred years. And no, that's not an exaggeration.
But I've only been able to scratch the surface, there is far more to read than I could possibly do in a day or week. But it'll be interesting to see where this all goes. And it'll be cool to see my uncle in the thick of it.
Scary 1984-esque News
Did you know that UC Berkeley tracks and logs every single URL visited from within thier computer system? They use a program called Bro to track all of them. Something to be aware of if you're thinking about clicking on HotSeptugenarians.com.
Also, Tulane has rationalized the right to look at any and all files on their network and that includes your personal email if you happen to be on their system.
Where did I find this out? Check out the June issue of Wired for this and lots more fresh and interesting information.
