An Abject Reminder to be Safe Out There
I just got off the phone with one of my old housemates and a fellow Ibis Mojo rider and he had some pretty unsettling news to report.
On Tuesday, as he was heading home from work on his road bike he checked right and as he looked left, a car was bearing down on him with the driver not paying attention to where he was going. Duggan started yelling at him just before the car hit him.
He had been able to get his bike perpendicular to the car but the impact launched him into the windshield, his elbow breaking through and getting sliced open in the process. His leg also got cut up pretty good and he basically got his ass kicked to the curb.
Twenty-six stitches in his arm later and a nice big juicy prescrip for some Vicadin and he's home (I don't know how many stitches he got in his leg) to heal up and ride again another day.

The moral of the story is that he's gonna be okay but it'll take a little while. And he should have been wearing a helmet. Side note, Duggan's younger brother Egan got hit by a car several months ago and STILL cannot ride yet so maybe use that as motivation. You can't ride if you're in traction.

So be careful out there.
