Maybe I just don't have an open enough mind to accept the kinds of things that happen on Ashoura Day (warning, the link is to a picture on Yahoo News that's graphic and disturbing) but damn, taking a sword to your child's head to commemorate a holiday?
There's something utterly fucked up about that shit and I don't care if I offend any Muslims by saying so. Slicing your children with a sword so that blood streams down their faces is child abuse.
As my pal, Hardy, put it. It makes it alot easier to grow up to be a suicide bomber if your parents did this kind of crap to you growing up.
This reminds of the dirty razor blade clitorectomies that have been performed in African countries for decades and called cultural mores or some bullshit when its really just mutilation.
