Incoming Puppy! Boning Up on What's Going to be Happening

With each tick of the clock bringing us ever closer to taking Nande home, I'm cramming in lots of studying, much more than I ever did for tests in school (sorry, Mom) but then, the reason for that is because we have to live with the results.

So here's a few links to helpful pages, First Week and the all important House Training with Crate Training as an option but beware that alot of puppies will experience Separation Anxiety from their siblings and momma and then from their new family if they're left alone.

Among my other tasks in the next couple of days: Compile a list of ten commandments for training the puppy (I.e. Consistency is the key to a well trained hound. All work and no play makes the puppy an unhappy hound. A tired puppy is a well behaved puppy and so on. but hey, there's three right there). Complete the modifications of the crate so that we can use the corral at its largest. Pick up a huge bag of puppy food for the big dogs and one of the regular stuff she's been getting so we can wean her off it and onto the other feed. A retractable leash. And all kinds of other things.

But I can't even begin to convey how excited I am for this evening when we will get her home!

I might even hold off on a couple of pending mini-rants I've got brewing and that is saying something.

[Update: On David's advice, I did a little searching on Clicker Training and we're now thinking about incorporating it into our program.]

[2nd Update: Hardy turned me on to Friendster for Dogs, Dogster. And I can't wait to get my Nande signed up and having steamy late night chats with poodles and pomeranians all over the world.]
