Count Your Blessings, Life Can Fuck You in a Heartbeat

I just got off the phone with an ex of mine and got caught up on what's been happening in her life since we last spoke.

Let me just say it now, give your loved ones a hug and tell them that you love them. Everyday. Heck, do it twice a day. Never ever forget for a moment that this life we exist in can be taken away in an instant. Life can change in the time it takes for a heart to beat.

Her husband is sitting in a hospital room right now with a large chunk of his tongue removed, a severed and repaired nerve in his neck, removed lymph nodes and a prognosis that makes doctors arch their eyebrows and say "Hmmm?" alot.

Don't take things for granted, don't assume that you will always have your health, that you'll never get sick, that you'll never die. Life inevitably ends. Health inevitably becomes illness.

Get your loved ones and hold them close, cherish the moments you have with them because the moments will one day pass beyond your control and you will no longer have them or they will no longer have you.

Where ever your life is now, it can get worse. Believe me, it can get much, much worse. Count your blessings.
