The Governator Makes Good on One Deal

I have got to hand it to Ahnuld, he has scored a pretty major win for California with his signing of an agreement with the Indian Casino's to kick down a percentage of their profits back to the state. The article (and one of the few local stories I could find without a subscription, you used to be cool San Jose Mercury News, now you're just killin' me), New tribal gambling compacts at-a-glance, details the plan and how some of the money will be collected.

The revenues will be used for transportation projects, I'm guessing more earthquake retrofits, bridge repairs and roadwork.

I can't see how this isn't a win for all of us. Oh boy, in return the casinos get more slot machines and exclusive gaming rights in their areas. This is also just the first five casinos to sign on, Herr Governator says that up to a dozen more are in the works and that's even better.

I still gasp when I think that we have the Terminator for a governor some but he does appear to making some decent moves and that's pretty awesome. I wonder how much of this is his star power and how much is his ability to negotiate. Maybe he just offers to sign some autographs and memorabilia for their Cache Creek Hard Rock Cafe's and comps a few passes to his next movie premiere?

Either way, good work, Arnold. I still don't want you as governor, much less president, but hey, you're doing a decent job thus far.
