I Got Nothing
Well, I've got almost nothing.
One new word that I actually pulled off the highway last night, nearly bashed into a perturbed lady in a bronze Accord and pulled into a parking lot to write down before it faded back into the ether.
Optimystic - the state of being where you have a magically positive outlook amid serious turmoil.
Oh wait, that's not all I've got. Two more things.
I posted All Guinness' cool blog tool, the Blinky Linker, on MetaFilter but we ran into some pain in the ass access issues where almost no one could get to the blog or the tool. So he gave me the IP address and that may have helped some.
But its a damned cool tool that allows you to mouse over the blogs you are linked to and all of the blogs that are interlinked will light up. Its a very quick and simple way to see how the blogs relate to each other. And how some of the blogs on people's blogrolls are total standalone blogs, like my Geeky Chick and Slut School (which I'm beginning to think has been abandoned but we'll see).
It does take some time to set up and execute the tool to generate the HTML for it but its worth it (unless you've got eight thousand linked blogs like Sedalina) in which case it will take many hours to configure best).
A New Feature to be Added
Because its so much easier to focus on the shitty experiences we have in dealing with services, I'm going to try and write up a post every once in a while about a good experience I've had while out shopping or getting the car fixed. The intent is to bring some attention to people that are doing it right.
A couple quick ones right off the bat. Dave at Precision Auto Tune on Soquel in Capitola, you kicked ass for us. You got me to work in time, got the car fixed up right, gave me some excellent advice about my truck and were a good guy all the way around. Thanks for taking the time to give a damn.
Jeff at Big O Tires on Water Street in Santa Cruz, thanks for getting my truck in quickly yesterday and for taking the time to explain to me the particulars of my concept to lift my truck by installing taller tires. It won't work and that's alright, you were cool and I appreciate the time you took to make sure I understood what you were talking about.
There will be more and I'll try to gather them on their own page in a few weeks. But think about appreciating the good service and letting those people know that you appreciate their effort. Just like with everything else, a little encouragement can do wonders.
One Last Thing
The stupid wind broke my new solar lawn light yesterday. Its a cool idea, a solar cell charges up some Ni-Cads all day and then those little batteries power a low draw LED which beams down onto a reflector to give you free low light forever (well, almost). But the rain and wind tore it apart, its back together now but we'll have to see if it can come back from the watery grave.
