I heard from one of my ex's the other day, we email back and forth every month or so just to stay in touch. She let me know that her husband has turned the corner and looks like he will recover from his recent heart attack and pneumonia. That was the good news.
The bad news (though that depends on whether you knew him or the circumstances) is that her sister's husband, a guy I knew when he was around 300 pounds, had gotten himself to 465 pounds. That's almost a quarter ton for cripe's sake! Anyway, that was as far as he was able to push the boundaries of his expansion. He died in his sleep because his heart wasn't able to continue.
The lesson to be learned here is that, if you watch your weight climb and don't do a damned thing about it except reach for the jumbo sized bag of pork rinds (which are a truly disgusting snack food if there ever was one) then you will wake up dead one day. Her sister is in a mixture of shock and relief. And, while the story is an interesting one, I don't have the time to break into it here.
But rereading the email makes me want to go and workout or go for a long bike ride or something outside and energetic.
New Linky to Surf
I found Calpundit the other night while link surfing from blogs and liked it. Actually, I was thinking of compiling a link list of all the pundits I can find.
Which begs the question, can anyone just decide to be a pundit? Or do you have to undergo a series of examinations before you're allowed to punditize yourself? I am thinking the former rather than the latter.
