A Rebuttal to Thom Hartmann's When Democracy Failed
Savage Henry over at the Fabulous Mint 400 has written a well reasoned reubuttal to Thom Hartmann's When Democracy Failed: The Warnings of History that is well worth the time it will take to read (its the longest post I've seen from Henry yet).
From my own perspective, I see this war against Iraq as a favor, a very, very expensive favor for a son to give to his dad. Shrub Jr. is cleaning up the ridiculous mess left behind by his father and his father's master, Rappin' Ron "I have no recollection of that" Reagan. Saddam was created by the US and now he's being decommisioned publicly and in the most ugly fashion possible. Sure, he's a rabid dog but he used to be OUR rabid dog. Same thing for bin Laden, we trained the both of them, supplied the both of them and now, ten years later when the dogs turn on their masters, now we get to go in and put them down.
In Support of the War Effort
Carlene over at Stilleto Philosophy has, once again, provided a link and commentary on where she stands on the new conflict. She references MSNBC's Text of Bush's National Address. She is also asking for people to let her know where they stand now that war has been declared and we're officially opening up the big old can of Whoop Ass on Saddam and his family.
As for me, I support the troops on the ground but continue to decry the action they're participating in as illegal and it shouldn't have been necessary. Where do you weigh in? Blind obedience to the talking heads at the Whitehouse or are you out in the street with a hand painted sign protesting the war? Or somewhere in between?
