Am I a Blog Snob?
Its become apparent to me that I'm a snob when it comes to reading blogs. I sneer when I read misspelled words (and then question my own spelling, one s or two in misspelled? but I'll spell check so no worries). Note, I did get it right the first time and am not cheating.
I was just reading a blog I came by that's listed as close to me on GeoURL and had to actually close the window because I was becoming bothered by the myriad grammatical and spelling errors. It drives me nuts really and I know it shouldn't because communication isn't about perfection, its about making your point, getting your thought into the reader or listener's mind.
And I should be able to overlook typos. I really should. But I can't. They make me peevish. I take them as personal slights against the English language, I feel like people are just chewing up my culture and regurgitating only those parts that they rush through to toss back up and out into the world.
And I close alot of blog windows because they're not spell checked or they say things like "loose" when they mean to say "lose". Maybe there's a therapy group for it?
And no, this is not a screed leveled at Billy, seed or Savage Henry over at the Mint (you guys, by the way, kick ass!). This is about another guy who's message to me was lost in mis-hit (or mishit, another new word? two in one day?) keys and garbled language.
Maybe I just need to take another dose of tolerance pills and get over myself and my over spelling wankerness.
