And with that, the Cardinals are the World Baseball Champs!
Congratulations, Redbirds. Either team deserved the win but I'm pretty happy with the end result. It was a decent series.
The interesting thing about the end of the baseball season is that now Barry Bonds can file for free agency. It will be interesting to see what kind of interest he gets on the open market. There was some speculation that he may be frozen out as a means of keeping him from breaking the all-time home run record. But I don't see it happening. I do see his ego preventing him from accepting a reasonable deal that would pay him for production and not just for showing up. But he's already stated he won't sign an incentives-laden contract. So who knows where he goes.
I am kind of bummed that the baseball is over. It is definitely my favorite pro sport but hockey's not too bad of a substitute. The only problem is that basketball becomes far too prevalent for me because I just can't stand the game, nor do I have any interest in wanting to like it.
