Biker Gangs, Beach Volleyball and the Return of the Dryer Fire cum Barbeque!

And that's the weekend wrap up.

Well, maybe I need to elaborate just a little bit.

But before I do. Please check out the latest pics in the Nande Gallery. The first new one from 5/8/04 is Nande Air Flop and has become an instant favorite of mine.

Okay, everyone got the nice warm fuzzies from seeing my dog being silly? Then we can move along with the show.

Let's mix and match the weekend's stories and get them back into chronological order. Its funny because I honestly can't remember a single thing about Saturday. I know it was sunny (I guess that's a single thing to remember) but I don't really remember doing much. I did nap and that was nice, oh yeah, and then we went to a party for the old neighborhood that was lots of fun and Nande had a blast and everyone was amazed at how big P's belly is. Okay, yeah, Saturday did take place.

Sunday saw P head up to the East Bay to see some friends, cut some hair and visit her parents. I got to have the house to myself, as quiet or as noisy as hell as I liked it and I went back and forth between the two. I've been listening to Maroon5 alot these days (thanks Tiffany for the connection) and She Will Be Loved in particular as well as Hard to Breathe. Good music. But I started doing yard work, after a quick trip to OSH for a new rake, with Los Amigos Invisibles singing "Porno Song" blasting out through my portable and directable box. Not a whole lot to do in the yard, just rake out the lower part of the lawn some after doing a search and destroy mission on Nande loafs in the lawn. I got the fire set up and ready to go with some extra firepower in the form of nice big chunks of mesquite charcoal.

I headed up into Santa Cruz to get on the beach as the weather was beyond gorgeous. It was a truly spectacular day and there's no better place to spend those kinds of days than on the beach. Besides, I had to test out my clean bill of health on my right shoulder by getting a game or two in. Short story (since the rest of this is stretching out) is that I played really well, the shoulder's sore today but I think it'll be just fine.

Before I'd gotten down on the beach I had a short preliminary business meeting with a pal who's looking to expand his band's gig list so I have also just become a promoter in addition to my other pimpadelic duties. But more on that stuff later.

After the beach, I came home and then went to the store to get BBQ supplies. Since P's a veggie, I got some shrimp kabobs and a nice big salmon filet. As well as some sausages for me and some assorted salads from the deli. The fire in the dryer wasn't as easy as it normally is to get lit and I worked on it for a little while before it finally decided that yes, it was going to flame up nicely. And flame up it did. It was throwing off massive heat and looked cool and I was very pleased (although I have decided that the exterior needs a coat or two of high temp black enamel to really make it look nice).

I almost forgot to write about the mini biker gang on the ride home. Four sport bikes, one guy on a juiced up Hayabusa (that's Japanese for Can-Go-More-Than-200-Miles-Per-Hour) and three other decent little bikes. They were riding south and cruising at about 75 miles an hour so I caught up to them without too much trouble. Passed them once, got caught behind a slow passing truck where upon they split the lanes at about 75 miles per, pulled back out in front of me and then I passed them again. I'm all for having a good time and everything and I hate the idiots who take two miles to pass a car but I'm still not down with the idea of splitting lanes at those speeds. One swerve, one screwup and you are leather clad road pizza. And that ain't cool with a baby on the way.

We ended up watching the Survivor finale and having really good seasoned and grilled shrimp as well as some salmon that took a lot longer than you'd think but was well worth the time and effort in the end. I was ready to crash out by 10 or so but puttered around until midnight and P finished up her driving school tests online and was up way too late. If she clears 8 tonight, I'll be amazed.

And Nande? Nande slept in until well after 6 this morning. She was a pooped pup after her big day in the east bay yesterday.

A good weekend and I've got the sore stiff muscles to prove it!

In Deja-Vu All Over Again News
Sure, its got a twist and brand new haircut but election fraud is election fraud. And maybe this isn't as bad as it seems to my incredibly jaded eyes but still, if you're going to be running an electronic election box making company, you might want to keep your politics to yourself, eh?

Diebold Appears to have a Conflict - Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc., told Republicans in an Aug. 14 fund-raising letter that he is ``committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year.''

Funny, I was thinking perhaps he should be alot more concerned with not cheating the American people out of the right to choose their own president.

In any case, note to self for this morning is to sell all shares in Diebold Inc. posthaste before the rest of the world realizes that their CEO has a little political bias shading his impartiality.

What would it take for the American people to demand a redo on the electoral process? We should have had one last time, especially after the huge number of pro-Gore voters in Florida who were somehow not allowed to vote and that state swung by a very, very tight margin.

And no, I'm not calling foul on it anymore. Gore should have done more to win the country by a landslide, he didn't, he lost and I don't think he would have been a good president in any case. John Kerry is a whole other picture though.
