Maybe its part of the leap of faith that believers in God have to make. Maybe its the same thing for believers in Bush? Even today, even more so everyday, people refuse to see or accept the shortcomings of this man who sits in the White House. They refuse to see the truly amazing rate he's been spending our money and our future money. They refuse to see that Iraq had nothing, NOTHING, to do with 9/11, had no weapons of mass destruction, had no major Al Queda cells hiding out there.
They refuse to see that he is attempting to steal another election by smearing a decorated (and justifiably disgruntled) Vietnam veteran. They refuse to see that he is making billions of dollars for his network of friends and business associates. They refuse to even accept the basic fact that he has lied nearly from day One of his regime. They willfully ignore everything he does that can be construed negatively.
How? How can people be so blind to what is so plainly obvious? How can people not see that Bush is leading this country down a very dark and ugly path that leaves our nation in danger, alone and without strong allies against a faceless menace that hates our very way of life? By what mental trickery does he convince people that he's a sincere and honest man in the face of irrefutable facts of his lies?
It can't be just wanting to be on the winning side. That's stupid and Americans can't be that stupid as to be beguiled by a smirky knob from Crawford. How does it work? Has he slipped mind control drugs into the nation's water supply? Why aren't we all zombies drooling our allegiance to Bush and Dicky while they clean the national register out?
Its not a question of hatred for Bush. I don't know the man personally and don't hate him personally. I hate what he stands for, I hate his criminality. I hate his attitude to the rest of the world. I hate his shoot first and cover it all up later mentality.
I hate the fact that he has the gall to try and tell people what they can and cannot do to their bodies. That a pregnant may NOT abort her pregnancy if she wants to because its an affront to HIS god. Hello? This country has hundreds of religious groups, how dare he declare what's right or wrong for all of them. How dare he roll back Clean Water laws, how dare he make it easier for corporate America to raid national land resources, how dare he make it easier to pollute this country and the world. How dare he sit and be defended by people living unexamined lives in their oversized SUV's, oversized homes with trophy wives with oversized breasts. How dare he hold himself up as some freakin' paragon of heroism when he was AWOL during his military service. How dare he even sniff around at a man who served his country, completed his duty and then exercised his right to speak out against the war.
George Bush is a coward and a liar and a crook and quite possibly the most damaging president in the history of this country.
You GOP heads out there (since I've now decided to refuse to call you the Right, because that's utterly stupid), defend him? Put together some rational thoughts on why he's the utter shiznit you make him out to be? What's he done for you? What is he going to do for you? By what stretch of allegiance has he so earned your undying adoration and support? Convince me, convert me if you can. Make me understand your point of view.
No, you can't just point at John Kerry and say he'll be worse. That's crap. Bush has been in power for years now. What good has he done? Show me a list of his achievements that need to be lauded. Demonstrate his fitness to lead. Come on, I dare you.
No name calling, no reduction into mucking about with semantics or other bullshit. You support him, tell me why.
