I read Heather over on In No Particular Order last night, a post that started with news about our puppy, Nande, and sequed into her getting very sad and upset about her Xena that she'd had to give away. I felt terrible for invoking such a painful memory for her but wow, Xena really was a beautiful dog. Anytime you have to give up a pet before you're ready it will leave a huge gaping hole in your heart. I don't know how to fill it but I do know how to post new pics to the Nande Gallery. Two from last night, Nande sleeps funny and Nande sleeps really funny.
A couple of other bits of news. The first is that Modoc, Paul and Kim's Weimerauner, got tagged by a truck the other night. Actually, the evening after Paul and I had been talking about his tendency to get tunnel vision and just go after whatever it was and someday he'd get hit. Well, he did. He's going to be alright but will be sore for a few days and one of his paws had to get stitched up. I'm glad he's okay and I hope/wonder if he'll think twice before bolting out into the street next time.
The other little bit was that my friend, John, came down last night for the first time, met Nande after giving me grief about getting a "man-eater" a couple of weeks ago. And he saw and understood why we had to have her. To know Nande is to love Nande.
Every morning is a blessing, an early blessing but a blessing nonetheless. There is nothing that even comes close to the energy in a freshly woken up puppy. And there is no energy that's as cute, either.
