The Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich

I nearly lost what is left of my morning to a Twitter argument with an ardent supporter of the GOP's policy of fiscal douchebaggery (more money for the rich, no money for the poor, no school lunches for the poor, no extension of unemployment benefits for those lazy bastards, blah, blah, blah).

Rather than spend my day attempting to convince someone who's clearly not even open to a differing opinion, I thought I'd blog it up here instead.

Not a Bad Day's Work

Man buys Bush library Web URL for $10, sells it for $35K because the web developers, Yuma Solutions, let it lapse. Oops. Not a bad way to make a chunk of money, Illuminati Karate.

As for the library itself (which seems ironic given Bush's distaste for intellectual pursuits), it will be themed around Bush's four core governing ideals which are freedom, opportunity, individual responsibility and compassion. But, as Rachel Maddow puts it, when translated those four core tenets become surveillance, recession, corporate welfare and exclusion.

I'm sure the Bush Library will be a GOP magnet for those seeking to worship at his disGraceland Temple but the only possible way to get me in those doors would be under heavy sedation and in desperate need of a place to piss. And even then, I'd be as likely to piss on his bronze torso as anywhere else.

My memory of the Bush legaacy will be that image of drunk Jenna Bush faux humping what looks like her sister who has a beer bottle and a cigarette in her hand up there. That and animatronic Laura Bush and Dick Cheney looking like he'd rather chop everyone else in the universe into tiny pieces rather than speak to them. I was wrong, there are plenty of memories to "cherish" and, soon enough, the entire hateful, disgusting administration will be shown the door and America can start to regain its soul under Obama/Biden.

Too Little, Far Too Late, Scottie

McClellan's book blasts Bush administration, you know, the same administration he was the spokesman for. The one he lied for, obfuscated, berated and otherwise misdirected the press and effectively ran interference for the worst administration in the history of the world.

And now, after the smoke is starting to clear and the universe is looking forward to getting Bush out of office, now you want to cash in on your part in the great deception?

Sorry, Scott but you can go fuck yourself. If you'd published your book within a year of leaving the position then I'd be lauding you. But you've waited until his term is nearly over and the GOP as a whole is trying to distance itself from him even though its just lipstick on an elephant.

You were complicit, Scottie, and now you want a big payday for it by turning on the hand that fed you and gave you pets. It is nice to see the rats deserting the ship that is the Bush administration but its still far, far too little far, far too late.

The Bush Presidency Legacy Chart

Saw this over on The People's Republic of Seabrook (originally from Democratic Caucus which has data source attributions) and had to post it here because it provides a very, very clear picture of just how far we, as a nation, have fallen under Dubya's dubious leadership.
The standout data: more Americans in poverty, the cost of insurance has doubled to $12k per year, the shocking drop in views of the US around the world (12% for Turkey!), greater consumption of foreign oil, negative personal savings and almost twice consumer credit debt over 2001.
There's no way to avoid the fact that George W. Bush has been an abject failure as a president and has done almost immeasurable harm to our nation on every front. Whoever replaces him in the White House will have a steep hill to climb out of the pit Dubya dug for us.

Karl Rove Has Absolutely Zero Shame

Rove: ‘I Wish The Iraq War Never Existed,’ It Was ‘Osama Bin Laden’s Idea’

That's right, folks, Osama bin Laden was the one that sent America into Iraq. Osama bin Laden is, according to Karl "What Revisionist History?" Rove, the real commander in chief in these United States. Osama bin Laden stood in front of the American people and spewed lie after lie after lie to propel the US into the war in Iraq. He's THAT much of a terrorist mastermind. Or not, or it could be that Karl Rove is a disgusting revisionist incapable of existing in what the rest of call reality.

That's right, folks, the unfettered glee and war boner that Karl "Go Die for My Political Schemes" Rove had for the war against Iraq in 2002 has turned into a flaccid, limp hindsight revisionism that does nothing but even more capably demonstrate how thoroughly unfit any of these turds are to be in power at all.

Here is Rove yesterday:
“I wish the war were over,” Rove said. “I wish the war never existed... History has given us a challenge.”
Here is Rove back in 2002 when he was aching to stomp him some insurgents (metaphorically speaking since he's a chickenhawk who never served):
In January 2002, Rove told conservatives, “Americans trust the Republicans to do a better job of keeping our communities and our families safe…We can also go to the country on this issue because they trust the Republican Party to do a better job of protecting and strengthening America’s military might and thereby protecting America.”

In June 2002, Rove was giving PowerPoint presentations candidates advising them to “focus on the war” in their fall campaigns.

In August 2002, Rove was chairing the White House Iraq Group, whose mission was to “develop a strategy for publicizing the White House’s assertion that Saddam Hussein posed a threat to the United States.”

In September 2002, Time reported that when friends asked whether Bush planned to invade Iraq, Rove was been known to reply, “Let me put it this way: If you want to see Baghdad, you’d better visit soon.”
Karl Rove is a man without an ethical bone in his crapulent jelly filled body. He is a thoroughly corrupt partisan enemy of America. He acts not in accordance with US law, not in accordance with what is good for the nation, his advice is partisan and dirty, he is a traitor to the US.

And he should damned well be held accountable for his myriad crimes and just plain evilness. The thought of that soft bitch in prison just makes me grin from ear to ear.

History is not a white board that you can erase and re-write to better suit you. History is there for all of us to see and know and remind you lying scumbags of.

Of What Value is "Testifying" Without Swearing to Tell the Truth?

President Bush thinks you are a drooling fool. He thinks you should be happy and satisfied with his assurances and the testimony of Karl Rove and Harriet Miers without having them swear to tell the truth.

Which is, effectively, having them swear to lie.

Without the oath any testimony is garbage. Without the oath they might as well be singing showtunes.

The Bush White House fired 8 federal prosecutors not for poor job performance but for poor Bush-sucking-up performances. They were told to target Democrats for investigations more than Republicans, they refused to play ball with the partisan wankery and got canned.

And that is wholly and irredeemably politically-based.

But Mr. Bush thinks we should all be happy little sheep and just accept whatever terms and conditions he wants to lay on any discussion or investigation into this latest scandal.

Mr. Bush, respectively, go fuck yourself. You are without a moral, ethical bone in your body and you have done little but lie to the American people for the last six years. The noose is closing around your administration and you will be lucky to avoid its grip.

Alberto Gonzales should be cleaning out his office by now, he's done. Karl Rove should be thinking about his next job, he's done too. Bush? He won't be impeached because that would leave us with Big Dick and nobody, not even the Republicans, wants to see that sick, mean bastard in power.

Testifying without an oath to tell the truth is a joke. I'm glad the Democrats aren't willing to accept these ridiculous terms and will force them to either give up their info or go to jail and they will probably end up doing both. Which is fine.

The Pattern of Arrogance from the Bush Administration Is Being Broken

or, Accountability Ain't Just a Word Anymore, Mr. Bush!

Power shift puts Bush team on defense amid scandals about the conditions at Walter Reed and the political firings of 8 federal prosecutors (who had been pressured to investigate Democrats specifically by the GOP leadership).

This is why this country needs it's checks and balances. If the Republicans had retained their strangehold on the reins of power then none of this would be happening. Alberto Gonzales would not be fighting for his job (which he will lose within the next two weeks). Karl Rove would not be being forced to testify. Ol' Rummy wouldn't have been fired. More and more skeletons and scandals are going to surface and ShrubCo doesn't have the juice to shush them away with lame lies and smarmy charm anymore.

Our country needs the checks and balances of a two party system. And now, now the rats are scurrying away from the sinking HMS Bush like the filthy rats they are. Everyone wants to distance themselves as far as possible from these craven, partisan wankers who have steered our nation into very dangerous waters.

Bring on the indictments, bring on the trials, bring on the prison sentences. Hold these crooks responsible and accountable for their crimes against our country and against the world.

I dare George Bush to pardon Scooter Libby. I double dare him. The flameout will be all the more spectacular that way.

Why yes, yes I am pleased that accountability has been re-introduced into Washington. It is about fucking time!

Nobody Said the GOP was Honest or Fair

Study: Feds Chase Dems More than GOPers
A study of reported federal investigations of elected officials and candidates shows that the Bush administration’s Justice Department pursues Democrats far more than Republicans. 79 percent of elected officials and candidates who’ve faced a federal investigation (a total of 379) between 2001 and 2006 were Democrats, the study found – only 18 percent were Republicans. During that period, Democrats made up 50 percent of elected officeholders and office seekers during the time period, and 41 percent were Republicans during that period, according to the study.

What's this mean? It means that the Republicans have targeted Democrats for investigations nearly four times as often as a Republican has been targeted. And funny, what's the percentage of indictments returned for each? I'd guess that its substantially higher for the GOP these days. Let's see, Duke Cunningham, Tom Delay, Mark Foley, Bob Nye, anyone associated with Jack Abramoff. Yep, the GOP sure is about honesty and fair play.

The partisan nature of the GOP and the fact that they really do not appear to ever act in the best interests of the nation, only in their own best interest makes me hate the GOP. The small-minded, vengeful, mean and greedy GOP. The GOP is the party of meanness, shallow greed and wanton hypocrisy. This is the party that thinks torture of POWs is just dandy and we should be doing more of it. This is the party that has quietly tried to underfund the reconstruction of New Orleans to send that money to war in Iraq. This is the party that doesn't care what they do to any citizen so long as their pals make more money than they had before.

The GOP is the cancer on our country. They are a parasite sucking the lifeblood and soul out of our country. Just think how brazen they would still be if the Democrats hadn't regained some measure of control in Washington.
