Roll Your Own
Making your own sushi is cool. Anyone who doesn't think its cool, isn't cool themselves and should not be listened to anymore.
Anyway, after making sushi with Paula for the first time this last Sunday evening, I'm galvanized to get my own little Tokyo rolling in Santa Cruz. To that end, I found this site where you can learn the basics of Rolling Your Own Sushi including Sushi Terms, Sushi Equipment, Sushi staple foods, How to make sushi rice and Tips and Hints.
I'm off to CostPlus to check out their sushi making supplies and likely stock up on some goodies! Need a bento knife, some nori, some dishes, some nice chopsticks and maybe a few other little things. And then I'm making sushi tonight! Hai!
Also found Sushilinks which happens to have some pretty good looking recipes available to try out. Now all I need is some nori and I'm set to roll (literally) tonight.
And today's quote seems appropriate.
Failure is only postponed success as long as courage "coaches" ambition. The habit of persistence is the habit of victory. - Herbert Kaufman
