Democratic News Years Resolutions
I had an idea the other day (note, this post was started before Christmas and before Paula and I happened), generally I get a couple of reasonably good ones a day and I liked this one so I'm going to try it out here on the blog.
As we approached that sacred holiday where the year number flips up one it becomes incumbent upon the imperfect in our society to create a list of things that we would like to change. Resolutions. Which is a beautiful word and definition really, don't believe me, check its definition here.
Lists of faults that we plan on addressing in the next year but nearly always fall by the wayside and are lost to selective memories and that space between your dresser and the wall.

So I actually have my old list of resolutions somewhere handy (I think). And I'm curious as to where readers think the best direction for improvement is. The list below is an idea of the things I might wish to adjust about myself, I'd welcome input as to the top needs or omissions from the list. Can't promise to implement them all but why not have a placeholder in place to set the rest of the year on?

All that said, here goes,
1. Workout more and eat better. And Paula wants to lose eight pounds too though I don't want to lose weight, I want to lose my desk monkey gut.
2. Quit picking my nose in public (especially now that I'm getting married), just kidding.
3. Finish writing my last book that I started well over a year ago now.
4. Collect all old debts and consolidate them into a low APR loan to beat them into submission.
5. Start the company we've been talking about for a little while.
6. Ride my bike ALOT more, my Ibis and my Suzuki.
7. Get all of my money out of Wells Fargo FOREVER!
8. Resolve to having the bestest, most perfectist, funnest weddingist ever.
9. To love her openly, without reserve, without fail and forever (our motto is Deeply, Passionately and Permanently).
10. Cook more food at home, break away from my bad eating habits (yeah, this is a double, sue me).
11. Tell the people I care about that I care about them more often.
12. Approach new situations and people with an open mind because everyone in the world has something to teach me (even if its just that I never want to be homeless).
13. Ease back the rheostat on my cynicism and sarcasm.
14. Get a handle on the instant messaging addiction.
15. Convert Paula to the Mac way of life.
16. Write more fiction and political entreaties as well as blogs.
17. Spend more time on the beach and in the ocean.
18. Continue to wrangle the monkey that is my pot smoking habit, its coming more and more under control which means my brain is getting back up to full speed again. And that can be a scary thing in and of itself.
