Bad EB (expeditionary behavior)
Bad EB used to be a term we used when I was out on my semester in the Rockies back in 1988. It refers to a member of the party who's exhibiting bad inter-team behavior or someone who's just behaving like an ass. And it became a part of my language, like auger in referring to someone or something tanking badly.

Well, I've been exposed to Bad EB in the blogging world. And might be accused of being somewhat (or more than somewhat) responsible for instigating it in the first place. But, in my defense, my comments were meant in humor, not as a means to harming anyone else. And in my mind, intent counts for one hell of a lot. I intended on making others smile whereas this other person (who'll go nameless for now) spits nothing but vitriol and anger. Thier own blog is an exercise is perverse superiority meted out in staccato bursts of screeching screeds and rants. I should have recognized that this person has no sense of humor, wouldn't know funny if it bit her (oops, gender attribution, a clue!) on the ass.

I read damned near everything I read online with a grain of salt, attempting to assess what I've read with the widest interpretation possible because the written word is subject to multiple uses in multiple contexts. And then there is subtext, implied text and read between the lines text, just to name a few.

Anyway, I don't really have a whole lot to say aside from the fact that people need to get a fucking sense of humor and not take everything so personally. Or, at the very least, accept whatever apology is offered and move on. But instead, they re-volley. Opening up a flame war in comments, launching outright rudeness instead of implied (however lamely) humor.

And so, it looks like I'll have to end up crossing off some people from the list of blogs that I do read and used to enjoy commenting on. Sad? Yeah but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get past it.

And to anyone out there, scratching their head in confusion. Don't worry, I'll get back to my regular rants and whatnot in the next post. This will be first and last post about this small minded, intolerant and unhumored blogger with the mother of all chips on her shoulder.
