Quickie

Not much time to post this morning as I'm running a little late.

I checked the Los Gatos Apple Store last night and found that they did have a few iPhones in stock. They initially did not want to set one aside for me but when I explained that I was coming up from Santa Cruz, they understood (its about 20 miles) and reserved one for me.

Now I'm happily learning to ins and outs of my sweet new device since you can't really call it just a phone. But yeah, it totally rocks in every sense of the word.

The Giants had another thrilling win last night after an amazingly awesome pitching performance from Jonathan Sanchez and the lone run of the game scored in the bottom of the ninth with an off the wall double. Really great stuff to watch.

Only one more day until the new Tivo hard drive gets here, I'm not sure if my wife can wait that long.

Okay, that's me for now. I'll be back later, I hope.

Treading Water Beats Drowning

It is no secret that I've been trying to work my way through some depressed times of late, the reasons are many, the resolutions are few.

But there are things I can do to make myself a happier and better individual and I need to be concentrating on those things I can change rather than allowing myself to get frustrated about the things I cannot change.

Those things include regular exercise, decent sleep (which is only partially under my control), eating well, spending quality time with my family and spending fun time with my friends.

I am approaching the years when mid-life crises are not unheard of and I have felt a little bit of the crisis trying to encroach on my usually pretty sunny and positive disposition. But there is strength in recognizing the approaching ennui and being able to take steps to stave it off or deflect its full brunt.

So, until the lower part of the cycle passes, I'll tread water, try not to make too many waves and try to squeeze out some happiness here and there when I can.

At least my computer lab is in the mid to high 50's already this morning. Yesterday it was an icebox in here until the afternoon.

I Can Admit That I Was Wrong

A few months ago Rick played around with Twitter and I couldn't understand what the point of it was. Short messages posted from whenever about whatever was my basic understanding.

But since Jay go me using it, I've actually enjoyed being able to keep up to the minute tabs on my friends. Its like getting a slice of their life, from Esther's bemoaning the barrage of PR calls to Jay and Chris' ride updates. It would be neat to have pictures incorporated somehow but I'm sure that's in the works.

When I get a minute (and find a suitable three column template to use) I'll add my Twitter feed to the sidebar. But here it is in-line, for fun. It will get better when I have a better text capable phone.
