Senate Republicans block windfall taxes on Big Oil
If you had any doubts of where their allegiances truly lie, look to today's news that the Republicans are protecting their pals in Big Oil from taxes on their quarter after quarter record profits while the price of gas blasts right through $4 a gallon and is, at least locally, closing in on $5 a gallon.
Oh sure, they spin it as best they can but you can't punch someone in the gut and then pretend you gave them a kiss. It just doesn't work that way and its despicable.
I have not the tiniest bit of respect for these Republican oil company bitches and the elections cannot come soon enough. Absolutely ridiculous.
The Democrats need to keep pushing this again and again. If the Republicans keep knocking it down, they will continue to look like traitors to America as this makes it starkly apparent how little regard they have for real Americans struggling to stay afloat as they've destroyed the economy, sent jobs overseas and basically behaved like a bunch of douchebags for the last eight years.

A Perfect Storm for Profit
I heard a short news blurb about Congress Grilling Oil Execs on High Prices and "asking tough questions" about gas prices and profits and tax breaks.
The thing is, expecting oil companies to voluntarily give up profits and tax breaks is utterly insane. They will milk that teat for absolutely as long as possible and won't be removed without much kicking and screaming despite the fact that the baby in this example is 50 years old and a multi-billionaire.
The first order of business for a non-oil-addicted-buffoon president should be to remove the tax breaks immediately. These companies are making record profit after record profit in successive quarters, there is simply no argument for continuing to support them. They make more money than the majority of countries on our planet.
Second, gas prices should also fluctuate to the lower side as well instead of the never-ending climb up towards $4 and more a gallon.
Third, I want a politician to stand up and point the finger (you choose which one) at the oil execs and call them on their position, force them to admit they are raping America and Americans in the name of stockholder profits. While families are being forced to make the choice between gas for the car and dinner for the kids.
There is just no reasonable and valid argument for a company making record profits each quarter to be getting handouts or breaks from the government. None. Because unfettered greed is not a valid argument. It is, to quote some gaming pals, an epic fail.
The combination of an oil-baby-fool for a president (who's family has been in bed with the Saudi's for decades), the war in Iraq cutting world oil supplies, tax breaks and ever-rising gas costs is a recipe for revolution in the streets and oil executives heads jammed on pikes. That they have the audacity to try and say their profits are reasonable is disgusting and, quite simply, wrong.

Oil Profits While Consumers Suffer
I hate stock market reporters. I hate that they spew data and numbers without even the slightest nod to the profiteering being undertaken by the oil companies.
Nope, instead they say pathetically stupid things like "Well, your 401K plan is benefitting from the record oil profits" which completely overlooks the fact that crude oil prices haven't really changed all that much in the last year. And yet, Exxon Mobile is returning record profits each quarter.
Why? Because gas costs fucking $3.59 a gallon and they could easily be charging $2.59 a gallon but they'd make much, much less profit and, at the end of the day, big companies couldn't be bothered to give a shit about the people they are screwing over.
Of course there's no inquiry or give a damn from the White House, our Fool-in-Chief is a Texas oilman, he grew up screwing people over for "black gold". He sees profit margins like what Exxon is turning in as a sign that the economy (of his rich exploitive pals) is doing quite well and to hell with the "commoners" who have to cut back on groceries to afford to keep their cars running.
Do you remember the proposition last November? Do you remember that deal that would have made it totally illegal for the oil companies to raise their prices for no reason?
Well, now they have safely secured their ability to squeeze more money out of everyone in California that drives a gas burning car. But then, what should I expect from a state that elects the goddamned Terminator as governor.
If Arnold wanted my support and the support of more Californians then he'd take some action to bring the oil bullies into line. Of course, then they could just roll up shop and go home, which would be difficult. All I know is that I'm envious of Venezuela and their rejection of OPEC's fetid teat.

But They Really Aren't Price Gouging
Exxon Mobil Posts Record Annual Profit, the most ever by any company, ever.
But they're engaging in fair pricing. Sure. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you.
