Life Lessons from Toys

I was playing with Nande in the back yard last night (before the cat poo incident of later in the evening). She's been learning how to catch a few of her toys in her her mouth in the air and its a fun game to play with her.

A couple of weeks ago P bought Nande a couple of balls for the back yard. Neither lasted more than five minutes before they'd been popped by her razor sharp puppy teeth and even sharper new adult teeth.

Much of the time, one of the balls will be on the lawn, flattened on one side and, effectively, useless. But if that ball is picked up and allowed to reinflate itself through the very holes that Nande's teeth tore in it, the ball will regain its round shape and can roll across the yard again.

Sure, its damaged goods and sure, it'll never be used for kickball or by kids bouncing it back and forth in a driveway. But for a few moments again, that ball regains its glory and purpose. And rolls away across the lawn.
