A Town Called Fucking and More
No really, a town in Austria called Fucking.
Fucking, Austria

By the way, the sign underneath reads "Please, Not So Fast", gotta love those Austrians!

And that's just one of the numerous tidbits of joy that Snopes can kick down for you. How about a deer on the top of a telephone pole? Sure. Or quality unretouched photos of Michael Jackson's freakish face or even a woman inside a dashboard in an attempt to sneak into America.

Today's Inspirational Quote
"I can't do it" never yet accomplished anything: "I will try" has accomplished wonders.

Last night marked the final step in cleaning out my old place and making it ready for the new guy to move in and take over. It took waaaay longer than I thought as I'd no idea how deeply entrenched I'd become in there. But now its a thing of beauty, the room is clean, empty and good to go. He's excited to move out because he's sharing a room a third the size with his brother. Still another load of stuff to drive over to the new place but its a small one and is mostly food really.

We're staring at another weekend of crappy weather, which is really just fine by me. We've still got so much to do in the house that the excuse to be inside will be good. But I've been good and got a high quality cover for Therapy and we're getting covers for our rack of bikes on the back deck (which will also go a long ways towards making me feel like they're more secure),

Short list of things we're looking to get for the house: a butcher block island for the kitchen (needed badly as we both cook and counter space is at a premium right now with the juicer, dish rack and other assorted kitchen detritus), kitchen table (actually less dire a need than one might think, we eat on the living room table right now and that's cool by me), another folding bookcase (this one for my books and less for display), another lamp for the bedroom and one of these (or two).

Made a few new jucie drinks last night with the Super Juicer. Current favorite mix so far is pineapple, tangerine and banana. But really, just about all of them have been excellent. I'm sipping on a 4 to 1 Granny Smith to Red Delicious apple juice that's tart and tasty! And this weekend we're planning a trip down to the fruited plains of Watsonville and other points south ,we are on the cusp of several vegetable capitals of the universe here in Santa Cruz. There's Gilroy, the garlic capital of everywhere and then there's Castoville, the artichoke capital, and Watsonville is definitely one of the strawberry capitals. In season, we get strawberries, literally as large as a man's fist. They're still sweet if you get then the day they show up in the markets (but a day or two later and the sugars are mostly gone).

The house itself is coming along really well, so well that Paula's venturing outside the house to get some errands done. Like an extra set or two of keys, mail forwarding and other small stuff like that. I want to get some more of my glassware over to the house as we're using plastics mostly right now and I just prefer glass for my juice, call me old fashioned. But how old fashioned is kiwi/mango/papaya juice?

And once we get DSL in the house, we'll be fully back up to speed. Especially since my airport is back online and whipping data wirelessly around the house. Its all good!
