Hardtop Speed
Well holy smokes, who'd have thought that my little bike could break 40 miles per hour?
I didn't think it could but it, and I, did. Coming down from our crazy little trek above UCSC. I've never seen it so populated with riders. During our break at the water tanks, next to the big sign explaining what to do if you see a mountain lion, at one point I counted almost twenty bikers within a hundred feet of me at once. But what a great day and a perfect time to be out in it. It was beautiful and the fresh oxygen coming from the trees was quite rejuvenating during our occasional breaks. It was my first longer ride in a long time so I suffered a bit but that's cool, I can deal with it.
Oh yes, Layne, I was fully protected with my helmet and gloves on. Though I did see one downhiller with full leg armor on.
Anyway, after riding up UCONN, or University Connector trail, from Highway 9, we broke for a bit at the water tanks. Its a great spot and in a short time lots of cool bikes will invariably pass by. I saw two Cannondale Lefties.
Oops. I should post this before I roll away. Its the 4th of July and anarchy is running rampant in the streets of Santa Cruz.
