Are Mac users smarter? - Tech News - CNET.com

Okay, so this time I was better prepared for it and understand and like it all that much more. Instant linking? Oh hell yeah!

Anyway, this is a story by an editor, Ian Fried, that I've known of for a while and its a funny piece really. He kowtows to the affluent aspect of the Mac User base and then lets a Gateway spokesman insert a pure marketing party line quote. I'm tempted to drop him a note with a laugh. But hey, the other cool thing is that I know a guy who just left NetRatings, I'm pissed its the weekend now because now it'll be harder to get in touch with him. No worries though.

Let's see, what else am I, as a long time loyal snobbish Mac user am I according to the survey by Nielsen/NetRatings. The main difficulty in this sort of a survey is the penetration, the overpowering wave of PC's dominates the market. But it is a stupid and clumsy machine most of the time. My Mac's elegant. Sure, it crashes every now and again, and it has its problems (my god, I can't believe I just put a comma before an and, oh the shame of it all). But now, having spent the last few months plodding through the use of a PC at work, I appreciate it all the more. Maybe it makes me a stupid commercial but its true.
I love my Mac.

Do PC users love their machines? Maybe. Who cares? People are welcome to use whatever they want, I just like what I like. You are more than welcome to like whatever you want, however stupid and inane it might be. Just kidding. I am a veteran of many a flame war on the old ZDNet talkbacks. Old habits die hard.

I am more likely to build a web page, or the dozens I've actually built. And more likely to buy things online, or the auctions I've won, sold or lost on.

Okay, time to get offline, the A's are just about to win and I need to eat before getting to the bar, otherwise I will have a most difficult evening. So much to do, so much to do. So much to write about.
