Okay, another short rant. This time about the stupid pop ups in browsers. Yes, some of them help to pay for the sites you are surfing instead of going to a straight pay for play revenue model (which would cause the vast majority of them to fold like a house of cards in a tornado). But I'm specifically speaking about the blank pop ups, they serve no purpose, irritate me and don't even convey any product or other information. Just another stupid window to close.

That's why I've been digging on Icab for the Mac. Its got a setting in the preferences that easily and elegantly defeats this stupid and short sighted marketing tactic. Turn off the ability for websites to spawn new windows and ta-da, no more stupid poppers.

On another note, Layne is actually digging on spam these days. Which tells me that she's not getting the horrid crap I get. I mean honestly, who has any interest in animal sex or animal bondage (no lie)sites? These idiot spamming morons are sending out millions of emails to people who are thoroughly disgusted by this sort of depravity. I send emails to the abuse desk at the server that sends them through with no slowdown of nastiness to deal with. Maybe if my spam were less repetitive and more inventive I might like it a little bit more, though I seriously doubt it. Spam is like a hair clog in the shower, just a pain in the ass to deal with. Especially when I've got hair that's no longer than an inch ever.
